Hiring for the 2026 season:

Seasonal Field & Studio Assistant

The seasonal Field & Studio Assistant plays an integral role in the daily activities on the farm during our busiest season from spring planting through late fall cleanup.  They help us maintain healthy plants and soil, grow over-the-top gorgeous flowers, and keep the farm tidy and operating efficiently.

  • 15-20 hours/week

  • Monday & Tuesday mornings required. The remaining hours are flexible.

  • May through October. 

Field Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Field Lead with sowing, transplanting, growing, watering, trellising, harvesting, post harvest management, and packaging of flowers for sale and for design.

  • Field maintenance to include (but not limited to) bed preparation with hand tools, fertilizing, hand weeding/mulching, irrigating, season extension duties, perennial bed maintenance, pest/disease management (following organic guidelines).

  • Maintain an orderly workspace and farm stand: includes washing buckets and vases as needed, cleaning the coolers, sweeping, raking, and organizing supplies.

  • Operate UTV, and other small power equipment as needed.

Studio Responsibilities

  • Pre-design preparation of vases and event supplies, processing farm and wholesale flowers for design, occasionally assisting with designs, packing and transporting.

  • Post-event breakdown of designs and equipment including separating trash, compost, and donation flowers. Cleaning and storing used vessels, mechanics, and equipment.

  • Preparing donation flowers for weekly pick ups, and occasionally assisting with delivery.

  • Follow systems and procedures meticulously for storage and inventory

  • Post Event breakdown including unload materials after events, clean buckets, vases, and containers thoroughly, organize and restock hard goods (vases, stands, tools, supplies), check inventory and communicate any damaged or missing items

Requirements

  • A general interest in cut flower production, horticulture, farming, and working outside among plants and wildlife

  • Detail oriented, meticulous, and organized with a passion for scrubbing things until they are sparklin’.

  • Hardworking, kind, energetic and motivated - able to work efficiently in all weather conditions while maintaining a positive attitude - even when it’s super buggy, raining, cold or hot!

  • Ability to perform physically demanding and repetitive tasks (i.e. bending, kneeling) and must be able to lift heavy items up to 50lbs. 

  • Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation. Hours begin upon arrival at the farm or event site.

  • Must be self-motivated with good time-management skills (you’ll often work alone based off a list of daily, weekly, and monthly to-do’s)

  • Must enjoy the rambunctious company of dogs, cats, and chickens. 

Compensation

  • $17-18 hour commensurate with experience.

  • %15 team discount on all BBF purchases + weekly bouquet (CSA sized) based on product availability
